Back home!

Today we left Barcelona. We tidied our apartment and then got a taxi to the airport and then flew back home. The flight was 2 hours and 40 minutes. When we got to Manchester it was cold. Then we got a long taxi drive home. The first thing we did was go upstairs and played with our toys. We felt happy to be home!

Picasso Museum

Today we walked around the city centre and went to the Picasso Museum. He painted people in his Blue Period and his Rose Period. He also painted Cubism. It is where you paint things from different angles all on top of each other. Picasso’s faces had eyes and noses and ears at the front.

Camp Nou

Today we met up with our friends at the Camp Nou football stadium to watch Barcelona play Eibar. The stadium was massive. Messi scored 4 and Arthur scored 1. The score was 5-0 to Barcelona. There were lots of offside goals. There were nearly 68000 people and there was lots of singing and shouting.

Barcelona

We got to Barcelona early yesterday after getting a late flight from Singapore via Doha.

Today we got the metro to the Cathedral where we met up with friends who had come out to see us. Sam and Martha were really happy to see familiar faces after such a long time away.

We had some lunch and then walked over to one of Barcelona’s beaches for a paddle in the water and stone skimming.

Goodbye Singapore

It was an interesting time to be in Singapore with the coronavirus just emerging. We were very impressed with their public health messages such as videos showing on big screens outside shopping malls and posters. We were reassured with the authority’s contact tracing and monitoring of new cases in the media. We were impressed to see that the Apple Store had hand sanitisers at the entrance and that everyone was using them. We took universal precautions and stayed away from public transport.

I liked when we went to the Merlion. I also liked the hostel and the food courts.

Martha

It was hot and humid but I liked the food, especially the meat and rice!

Sam

Sam and Martha enjoyed eating at the various food courts and hawker stalls. Sam particularly enjoyed our 2 visits to the Michelin star stall Hawker Chan.

We felt that there were less tourists around than there would have normally been, especially around Chinatown. In our short time in Singapore we were able to visit all the places that we wanted to but would like to return and see more!
