Leaving Vancouver for Alaska

Today we left our house in Vancouver and went downtown to catch our ship to Alaska.

When we saw the ship we were amazed at how big it was!

When we got on (after all the long queues) we found our room and then went in a freezing swimming pool on deck 9. There was also a hot tub that we could warm up in.

Afterwards we went into the dining room and had some food.

Lots More Relatives

Today we met our auntie Jennifer, Uncle Jonathon and our cousins Rachel, Lauren, Olivia and Ellie at Queen’s Park in New Westminster. There was also a petting zoo there. At the petting zoo we stroked goats and kittens.

Then we went to a little park next to the petting zoo and then we ate pizza. Next we went into a water park and we got soaked! We had a great time!

Bowen Island

Today we went to Bowen Island. We took a big bus ride to the ferry terminal and then caught the ferry.

First we went up Dorman Point which was a hill. The path was rocky and steep and we also found some sticks. When we got to the top there was a nice view!

When we got down the hill we played a bean bag game and then me and daddy went to a rocky beach and threw stones in the sea.

Guest post: My Day at Capilano by Anwen Rose Bodell

On the way from Vancouver to Kelowna we went to an amazing place called Capilano. It had a long bridge called Capilano suspension Bridge. It was 140m long and it was very wobbly.

My dad met his friend from University. His name is Mike and he came with his family.

Firstly, we went to Capilano Suspension Bridge. Our family goes to Capilano every year and the queue seems to get larger because it gets more and more popular. When I got on to it I saw an outstanding view with the river running underneath and the trees looping above our heads. When we got to the other side we did a trail in a fabulous treetops adventure.

We did a trail of six questions and we had to find different types of trees. There was Western Hemlock, Western Red Cedar and Douglas Firs. It was really fun. At the end of the trail we could choose from two badges, a yellow slug or a ladybug. I chose the ladybug. Then we enjoyed some delicious, creamy pancakes and hot chocolate.

After crossing the bridge back it was sadly time to say goodbye to the Cheungs as they continue their adventures!
