A very hot day

We did some school work in the morning in the hostel library. Then we had a walk down to the port area where the boats were and had a picnic and played in a mini play area. However, because it was very hot, we walked back in to town and to the hostel.

Lots Of Walking

First we walked through the old part of the city and to the ferry. We got a short ferry ride to the other side to a place called Lévis. There we had a picnic and me and Sam played hide and seek. Then we walked up some very steep steps and looking back there was very nice views. We found a small park and I went on the monkey bars a lot.

After that we walked back to the ferry and went across back to the city and we walked back to the hostel. What a lot of walking!

Québec City

We left Niagara, went back to Toronto and then flew to Québec City. We walked along the city walls and climbed on the cannons. Most people that we met spoke French and English. We saw some people dressed up in old soldiers costumes and one of them had a musket which he fired.

Niagara Falls (part 1)

The boat trip

The (no longer Maid of the Mist from the Canadian side) Hornblower Cruises boat trip takes you past the American Falls and then up to the Horseshoe Falls.

White water walk

A walk further down the Niagara River along the Niagara Gorge.

Festival of South Asia

When we woke up today we found that at the end of our road there was a festival so we went to have a look. [Note from Mum – we were staying in Little India] There was lots of food and drink, music, bouncy castles, hula hooping and clothes. We ended up staying all day it was so good. In the afternoon there was so much rain, but it was warm so we ran around in it.

Martha – I really wanted to buy a dress and found one for $10. I really enjoyed the hoola hooping and playing with the other children on the bouncy slide. I loved playing in the rain.

Sam – I paid $5 to slide as many times as I wanted. Also there was a racing one, and I raced against some other boys and girls, it was great fun. I loved playing in the rain.

Angela – the food was so delicious, we had veggie samosas and chana. When the kids were in bed I went back out to visit the Riverdale hub – www.riverdalehub.ca – a eco friendly community cafe initiative, giving women from various backgrounds (e.g. other countries, abusive relationships) a chance to gain experience in working in a cafe to then help them get other jobs . They have a rooftop garden where they grow food for their cafe, and they were giving tours as part of the festival. From the roof I could see CN Tower in the distance, and look down over Lahore Tikka House where we had our lovely curry with Sally and Brent yesterday. It was one of those days that you don’t plan but turn out really well!

Mike – I was on the next street when the rain came down and it was so hard that the street had turned into a river. Fortunately I had shelter in a shop.

Easy Day

First, we relaxed in the morning. Then in the afternoon we went to the park and swimming pool. It felt very cold but we got used to it. At the park there was a sand play area so I went in that. Sam also played football.

We went to an Indian restaurant for tea. There we met Max and Josh’s aunt Sally and her boyfriend Brent. We drew pictures on the white board that we were meant to put our order on. We did a lot of arm wrestling with Brent and I was stronger than Brent.
